Faye Carroll Blocker

Faye Carroll Blocker was born on September 8th, 1931 in Lewis County. She lived on Bailey Street in Columbia, TN for many years. Faye passed away peacefully at 90 years of age on Sunday, October 10th at her daughter’s home. She married Richard Blocker on July 5th, 1947. They were married 57 years at the time of his passing in 2003. She was a lifelong member of South Point Church of Christ in Hampshire and also worshipped at Eastside Church of Christ which became South Gate Church of Christ.

She is survived by: children – Pete Blocker, Linda (Tommy) Dunn, and Alvin Blocker. Grandchildren – Rick (Heather) Dunn, Bryan (Laura) Dunn, Virginia (Josh) Jones, Miranda Franks, Keri Clark, Brad Blocker, step-granddaughter, Heather (Michael) McKnight, and special grandson-in-law, Eric Borchert. Great-grandchildren – Ricky, John William, and Savannah Dunn, Melynda Borchert, Kaylee & Tyler Jones, Russell and Riley Thompson, Reagan and Ryan Harmon, Hadlee Blocker, Nena, Hunter, Paige, and Conner Cates. Step great-grandchildren – Haley Jones, Mikey, and Bella McKnight. Very special sister – Norma Carroll Kelley. Special nieces and nephews – Donna Wisener, Lisa Evers, Billy Carroll Jr., Gail Cathey, and Mary Ann Dotson, and several other nieces, nephews & cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents – Cecil and Lema Clay Carroll, her husband, James Richard Blocker Sr., granddaughters, Cheryl Dunn Borchert and Nena Michelle Blocker, special son in law, Tommy (Bubba) Dunn, sister, Nell Griffin, brothers, Bobby and Billy Carroll Sr.

She was employed by Dixie Manufacturing Company, Storktown (Weather-Tamer), and later General Electric. Her joy came from taking care of others, both old and young. Family was her priority, and she was affectionately known as “Mama Faye” by everyone who knew her.

She loved God and the church and as long as she was able, she would be found at South Point Church Sunday morning and night and Wednesdays at East Side (South Gate) Church of Christ. She brought many children to church and one of her last requests was to remind each of them of this.

Pallbearers are: Billy Carroll Jr., Brian Maxwell, Josh Woody, Comer Brewer, Johnny Wayne Churchwell, Kevin Kincade, Josh Jones, & Bart Kelley

Honorary pallbearers are James & Martha Posey, David Priest, Phillip Evers, Barry Clay, Danny & Doug Johnson, Sherry Quillen, Gayle Allen, Entire Macer Family, and members of South Point Church of Christ.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 pm; and Wednesday, October 13th, 10:00 A.M. until the funeral at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia, TN with Joe Macer and Randy Baxter officiating. She will be buried at Morrow Cemetery in Hampshire, TN. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

The family would like to express appreciation to Hospice Compassus, Dr. Gibran Naddy, & physicians and nurses at Maury Regional Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials made in her memory to Morrow Cemetery, c/o Linda Dunn, 1628 Hayes Denton Road, Columbia, TN 38401.
