Mr. Jimmy Leonard Dodson, age 74, a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023, at NHC Columbia.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Anthony Booker officiating. Burial will follow in Bryant Cemetery in Marshall County. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and again on Thursday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, with the funeral service to follow at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on September 3, 1948, in Marshall County, Jimmy was the son of the late Richard M. Dodson and the late Christine Martin Dodson Harvey. He worked his entire career as an automobile mechanic. He enjoyed doing farmwork, gardening, growing tobacco, and raising farm animals.
He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Welch of Columbia, Sheila Duke (Mark) Booker of Columbia, step son, James Sanders of Columbia, brother, Randall (Norma) Dodson of Lewisburg, grandchildren, Kaitlyn McCandless, Ashley Duke, Wes Duke, Rebecca Sanders, Scotty Hargrove, Levi Hargrove, great grandchildren, Khloe Duke, Ivy Duke, Karly Thompson, Neill Hargrove, Richard Hargrove, Bailynn Hargrove, nieces, Donna Hazlett, Melanie Dodson, Tiffany Ledford, nephew, David Hazlett, several great nieces and nephews, and very special friends, Wayne Grissom and Chevy White.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Dodson on March 6, 2017, son, Richard Hargrove, step son, Joe Sanders, sister, Jean Hazlett, and nephew, Daniel Hazlett.
Pallbearers will be David Hazlett, Tim McCandless, Mark Booker, Freddie Morton, Tim Isabell, and Victor Booker.
Honorary pallbearers will include, Brian Harvey, Joel Brady, and the employees of Chevy White Auto Sales.
