Lynda June Coffey Briggs, 82, resident of Columbia, TN, and retired secretary for Highland Church of Christ, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024 at NHC Columbia.

Born on July 19, 1941, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of the late Landon Harrison Coffey and the late Hazel Thomason Coffey.

Mrs. Briggs graduated from Haylong High School where she played basketball, was a cheerleader, and on the yearbook staff. She worked as a secretary at DuPont until its closing before working for twenty plus years as the secretary for Highland Church of Christ. Mrs. Briggs was a talented baker and enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, and quilting. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Donald F. Briggs, whom she married September 30, 1961; daughter, Treisa Briggs; granddaughter, EvaMarie Briggs; brother, Don Coffey; and several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald “Wayne” Briggs; and son-in-law, Harvey Ibbotson Briggs.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 10:00 A.M.at Highland Church of Christ with David Morris and Brian Gregory officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday, January 26, 2024 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Burt Briggs, Joe Amos Briggs, Troy Briggs, Blake Briggs, Dalton Adkins, and Josh Adkins. Honorary Pallbearers include the past and present Elders and Decans of Highland Church.
