Celebrating the Life of Maurice Donell Frierson
Born October 7, 1960 – Columbia, TN
A Heart That Gave. A Strength That Endured.

There are some souls who walk among us with a quiet kind of power—unshaken, unyielding, and full of grace. Maurice Donell Frierson was such a man.

Born to the late Dorothy Beatrice Frierson and William Fred Moore, Maurice embodied the resilience of his roots and the heart of a giver. From an early age, he showed a determination to rise—earning his GED and pursuing his dream of working with his hands. A skilled mechanic and a proud professional truck driver, he forged his path through hard work, grit, and an unwavering sense of purpose.

Yet Maurice’s truest gifts could not be certified—they were lived. To the world, he was a man of many talents. To those blessed to know him, he was nearly invincible. Though his health waged silent battles, he bore them with grace, never burdening others with his pain. He did not believe in kryptonite. Instead, he believed in rising each day, showing up for others, and sowing good wherever he walked.

Maurice had the rare kind of strength that lifted others. He offered wisdom without judgment, generosity without hesitation, and presence without pretense. Whether through a helping hand or a word spoken at just the right time, he reminded us all that better days were always possible.

He devoted much of his life to the trucking and mechanical industries, remaining active until his health required him to rest. Even then, his courage spoke louder than any struggle—his spirit, still a light for others.

He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved siblings Colis Montell Frierson and Eunice Lee Braden.

He leaves behind a living legacy in his children—Maurice Frierson, Brittney Frierson, and Breesha Munroe—who carry forward his name and love. He is also remembered with tenderness by his siblings Lillie, Clark, Octavia, Robert, Etta, Larry, and Herbert; his precious grandchildren Jayla, Jaedon, Kobi, and Yannis, who brought him boundless joy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and faithful friends. The Brown family, too, joins in honoring a lifetime of friendship and shared moments.

Maurice’s story is one of quiet triumph, unwavering love, and a hope that never quit. He was a strong Black man who knew the weight of the world, and still chose to lift others. Though he never wore a cape, his legacy reveals a man made not of steel, but of gold—refined by fire, yet tender in spirit.

His light will not dim. It will shine on in every life he touched.
