Maury County Fire Department has responded to two home explosions this week.

The first explosion happened on Sunday night around 9:20pm on Trousdale Lane.

MCFD said there was no fire when units arrived. However, there was dry wall damage on all three levels of the home and secured utilities.

A propane leak during a remodel is the suspected cause.

The department says the homeowner prevented a much bigger event from occurring after he turned off the propane at the tank after discovering the smell, then opened a garage door, front door, and two windows. These actions allowed the pressure to escape through the openings.

The second explosion occurred Tuesday morning around 8am on Dry Creek Rd.

When units arrived, they found extensive structural damage to the rear of the home with two burn patients. Maury EMS along with Vandy Lifeflight VUMC provided ALS care to the patients.

Although the explosion appears to be accidental, the incident is under investigation lead by MCSO fire investigators and TBI Bomb and Arson.
