A Moderate Winter Storm Watch is in effect for a portion of Middle Tennessee from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, with potential heavy snow and ice accumulations.

As of 1:50 PM in Maury County, the current temperature is 47.5°F with overcast skies. The wind is blowing at 8.1 mph and there has been no recorded precipitation.

Today’s temperature reached a high of 52.2°F after a low of 26.6°F. Winds peaked at 16.5 mph and there was an 86% chance of precipitation, with an expected total of 0.43 inches of moderate rain. As we move into tonight, temperatures are forecasted to drop to a low of 45.3°F. Winds will slowdown to up to 8 mph, with a 37% chance of light drizzle.

Residents should be prepared for the upcoming winter storm, which could significantly impact travel and power continuity, especially from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. Areas north of Interstate 40 may see snow accumulations of over 6 inches, while areas south could experience significant ice accumulations up to a quarter of an inch.
